Pricing Strategies for Freelance Medical Writers
Whether you’re a new freelancer or you’ve been doing it for years, one of your biggest challenges might be determining how much to charge for a particular job. This webinar explores strategies to help you get compensated fairly for your work. You’ll learn the only two rules of pricing, the pros and cons of different types of fee-setting, a method of record-keeping that helps you set realistic rates for future jobs, and ways to analyze your experience and improve your income. Many of these approaches also are useful for evaluating a fee that a client sets.
After working on staff for a medical publisher, a health care organization, and a division of a pharmaceutical house, Laurie Lewis switched to self-employment as a freelance medical editor and writer. In more than 30 years as a freelancer, she worked on a wide variety of print, multimedia, and web-based materials for health care professionals and patients. The author of the award-winning book What to Charge: Pricing Strategies for Freelancers and Consultants, she has shared tips for successful pricing in presentations for freelancers across the country. Although she still works on projects of her choosing, she recently started calling herself “retired” from freelancing so she could pursue a totally different endeavor: New York City tour guide.
